LATELY//

1. Not only have I been kinda obsessing over black and white/monochromatic clothes & design lately, I've also been doing some b&w ink drawing. Ive been keeping some pictures handy like this one of Emma Watson for inspiration.
2. So, recently my friend Jacob gave me his holga camera! I am so excited & spent my spring break snapping photos of friends. I cant wait to get my first roll developed. So fun.
3. Love this tangerine color for spring nails. Just applied a coat today!
4. Grapefruiiiiiiit. Love. I've been trying to eat a grapefruit a day lately. They always have them fresh and cut on campus so its fairly easy to get my hands on em. They are so deliiiishhh and awesome for health, so eat up!
5. Being in college has definitely surpressed my magazine consumption. I dont remember the last time I bought a fashion magazine, let alone read one! Tonight I went to Barnes & Nobles with a few girl friends and we spent some time catching up on Nylon and other magazines. Fun friday night, huh?
6. Green tea. I've been trying to up my intake of tea as well these past few weeks. Yumma.

Blakes + Bows

This is Blake. Yes, there is in fact another girl named Blake here in Arkansas. PLUS, shes totally awesome and cute too! And it gets even better...we are roommates together next year! We have very similar tastes and are both bloggers. Cant wait to shop for our apartment together! Woo. Anyways, the point of this post was to show you how CUTE her hair was today! I saw her this afternoon and made her pose for some quick shots. I feel like that bow and her little pouf in the back just describe her perfectly. Shes so quirky! Love it, love her, and love that little red bow!

You can check out Blake's blog here.

Vegas Volt

Vegas Volt

So, my mama works at MAC and she recently sent me a care package with some fun lipsticks in it! One of them was Vegas Volt (featured above). I LOVE it! Easily my new favorite color. Its bold without being obnoxious and is a perfect compliment to a tan (which I am still in need of). I put together a litte style collage for this spring, and for any of you who know me, know that I have much more of a girly edge style. So, I thought this mix described me perfectly! I love the black and white striped top (I have a little bit of a monochromatic obsession lately) with the salmon blazer. Ah! I of course had to add my glasses into the mix :)

Looking Back

Stress is something that has haunted me this semester. Every day I feel like I'm going a million miles an hour, with a million things to do. My days are filled with classes, work, studying, group meetings, etc. I feel like this whole semester my sleep schedule has been: go to bed sometime between 12am and 2am, and wake up at 630am. I've always heard that college is where you learn time management, and I'm definitely seeing that now. The last few days of my spring break, I was literally afraid to come back, because I knew I'd just go back to drowning in my schedule. And its so crazy, because literally, that monday morning I woke up, the alarm blaring, thinking "here we go". And I was right. This is the first time since I got back that I've even had a chance to sit down and have a second to myself.

I was looking back on some of these snapshots from my break. I miss it. I would wake up on my own in the morning, lay in bed, and think to myself "hmm, what do I want to do today?". Thats such a freeing thought. Of course, I understand this cant be what happens everyday, but I sure would enjoy at least a couple hours a day, ya know? 6 more weeks. 6 more weeks.

What are some ways you deal with stress and time management?

What She Wore//02

I feel like its impossible to hang out with my best friend, Kristie, and not have to ask her if I can snap a few shots of her outfit. Her style is so bizzare, but so perfectly put together! Its so funny how when she buys things, I just look at her like a crazy person. But then, when she styles them, they come out amazing! Shes got such an eye. And lemme tell ya, this girl knows how to thrift. I, on the other hand, have a very hard time seeing racks and racks of old clothes and finding every day use out of them. I've found a few steals here and there, but K always leaves a thrift store with arms full of clothes. Its a gift, I tell you. Anyways, I snapped a few pictures of her outfit to put here on my blog. So cute! And this wall we found was such an awesome background! Its the side of a pizza shop on Dickson St here in Fayetteville! So cool!

Bearing The Fruit//

The other day, I had been thinking about many different parts of my life. School, friends, church, work, etc. In all honesty, I was angrily-thinking about how pointless some of the things I do are. But unfortunately, these seemingly "pointless things" are things I have to do. Like, taking business classes. I hate it! I hate it, and not only that, but these classes are so difficult! I'm spending so much time studying and doing homework for a major I really dont even like. So, while I was contemplating my frustrations, Jesus reminded me of the fruits of the spirit, and how he intends every area, whether we enjoy doing it or not, to bear fruit. So, off that, heres my little devotional for you today:

Read John 15:1-17
Key Verse: "I am the true grapevine, and my father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that does not produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit, so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me."

1. Jesus wants every area of our life to bear fruit, and if its not bearing fruit, he cuts it off. Think of the three areas of your life that you put the most time into. It can be people, places, specific activities, etc. Dont think solely of the ones you get the most out of, or the ones you like the most, rather, really think about the things that take the most of your time and devotion out of your day.

2. Now detect and analyze what fruit(s), if any, that each of these activities or people are bearing. If there are no fruits coming out of that area, pray for how you can turn it around to start bearing fruit from it, or ask God if its an area you need to let go of completely.

Remember that Jesus intends even the sucky parts of our day to bear fruit. Like, those business classes, or work. Those are not fun! But even though they arent what I'd want to be doing, I have to do them. And because its a part of my life, they have the potential to bear much fruit! Anything and everything can be put under the authority of Jesus, the "gardener".

In the process...

Ahh. Sunday night, back in the dorm. Spring break is unfortunately over. Oh, how needed that break was! Although most of my friends back home weren't on a spring break, there was something so nice about waking up in the morning (on my own- not to an alarm blaring at 7am) and literally having nothing to do. I loved every minute! While I was home I got to work on my upcoming "album" (i feel so lame calling it an album, so I always feel the need to put it in "quotes"). Goodness, recording is so tedious. As much as I absolutely love writing and recording, I was about ready to give up! It takes so much time! Crazy. Conner is such a trooper. Seriously, what would I do without that guy??! I have no clue how to work all his crazy recording equipment, or most of the instruments he pulls out of no where. So thankful he is willing to help me on this!

I was listening to some of the finished recordings on the way up to Arkansas today. It makes me so excited that its all coming together! And dang, its so crazy what a mac can do! I'm like blown away by the capabilities of this whole garage band thing! So cool. Who needs a producer right?? ;) I'm getting everything mixed in the next couple weeks and am hoping to have it released by early to mid May! Woo!!! Get excited with me!

Good Day

You know those days that are just good? That leave you feeling full and thankful? That was today. I had an awesome time just wandering around with 4 of my bests. I love being home with them. We adventured around downtown Mckinney and snapped some pictures along the way. Hope you enjoy peeking into our day!

Good day.

How I'm Feeling

Although my closest friends and family already know, I will be spending a month in Berlin, Germany this summer! I'm so excited. I am getting the amazing opportunity to go serve with Aaron & Jeanette Alexander, my home Church's (Hope Fellowship) media pastors, and now German missionaries! Aaron was my very first youth pastor, and under his teachings I was introduced to Jesus. I am so humbled that they are allowing me to come and serve along side them!

So, for those of you wondering about details, we will be mainly working with a ministry called Students For Christ, which is directed towards college students. I'll be helping out with the small group services, as well as serving with Reset Church in Berlin, Germany. Its gonna be an awesome time! I'm so excited to experience the German culture and bring love to such a spiritually dark place.

To raise money, I have been writing and recording a small 5 track album that I will be selling in the next couple months, along with some other handmade goodies. I'm super excited about it, and hopefully planning on having a release show or something like that. So, I'll keep you guys updated on Germany plans, funding, and the release of this album!

What you can do now is start praying! Pray the funds come in & that God is faithful in his provision! Also, pray for the hearts in Germany to begin to be softened. I know Jesus wants to do so much in Berlin.

And lastly, click here to check out Aaron and Jeanette Alexander's blog and website! They have an awesome promotion going on called "I heart Germany". Lots of fun stuff you can buy to help support them!

2AM Study Break

I have my last test before spring break tomorrow morning (or actually, this morning technically). I've been studying all night long, and still going. Its so hard for me to stare at numbers for 12 hours straight; I had to take a break. I found myself doodling and listening to Monsters of Folk. And well, here's the end result. Goodness I love M. Ward.

Life: Warmer Winds

Winter has departed from Arkansas, unfortunately. Spring time being here means Summer is just around the corner. I'm much more of a cold weather type girl. I say that, but when its fiercely cold, I'm longing for some warmth. I guess I'm indecisive. Anyways, we hardly had a winter had in Arkansas this year. One day of "sleet" and that was it. Pretty disappointing, I must say. Today was, I'd say, our first real day of spring. At least the first one I've had time to enjoy. 75 degrees, sunny, breezy, nice. Kristie is on her spring break so she came up to hang out for a few days. We had a lovely time today and I thought I'd share some snaps of our day.

We started our day off at starbucks doing a quick bible study before I had to work for a couple hours. (Bummer right? Who wants to work when your best friend is in town from Texas??)

We had a nice time adventuring in the Dickson street bookstore. That place is like Narnia. You can easily get lost in there. So cool though. Books for days.

Unfortunately, even though K was here, I still had to spend some time studying for my numerous tests this week *sad face* (which, now that I think about it, I probably shouldnt be blogging right now, oh well!) We went over to one of my favorite coffee shops/bookstores called Nightbird Books. Its awesome. A cafe/bookstore with live birds inside! So neato. Plus they had a patio for us to sit outside on! Lovely.

Kristie left a couple hours ago, and though I'm sad she had to leave, I get to go home and see her + alot of other lovies in 2 days! Joy! Cant wait.

Well I hope you all have a good rest of the week. For all my fellow Razorbacks....just 2 days. We can do this. :)
